Earlier I thought that success always comes with the loud announcing sound of fanfare. Now, after each success-bang I get the same impression that it often comes unannounced.
What we feel as success is part of the process and it’s the same feeling of progress that we have while executing the small steps that take us to the goal.
The amount of dedication defines the amount of distraction we get from the feeling of the small outcomes. You try out something, it fails, you are disappointed, but as you are fully focused on the process, you might not even notice that you are disappointed. The same applies to success. When it happens, it comes with a feeling of accomplishment. A feeling of “I knew this will work, as I worked my ass off the past 3 months, so there’s got to be some result”.
This sensation can be used as your North Star for any goal you set. Floating 10m with a boat takes us nowhere, that repeated 10 times, takes us 100m off-shore. If none of these actions feels a success, the whole outcome will be a failure.
It’s a common truth, repeating the same steps that result in failure once, will always result in failure. The same applies to success. A micro-success repeated 100 times, will multiply itself by 100 and show as a success of the whole process at the end.
The obsession of the micro-actions turns into a success process. The key is making the success invisible by being overly focused on the small bits, and yet confident that what you did, even if it fails, it will still feel like success.
