Everything starts with an app, then the app turns into a product, then the product turns into a business. Each of these “into” is a long way ahead. I am somewhere between building a product and a business. And honestly, I thought that bridge would be much shorter, and I even considered shutting my project down a few times.
But for some reason, the idea still sticks. Even after I lose all my motivation and barely pull the plug. I still feel the idea. The fact that I cannot execute on a business level at the moment does not concern me a lot. What concerns me is distribution. I am bad at marketing and sales and I put 2x the effort into improving these areas. Business is the least of my concerns.
A built product does not make you a businessman. Neither does getting your first paying customer. What makes a product a business is the flow and dynamics of the business. The problems that arise from the business movements. Solving those issues is a business, that makes you a businessman.
Thus, do not get discouraged to get started. There is a long way ahead, but at the beginning, the complexity of buzzwords and scares can be elevated by lowering your expectations for the outcome.
Always zoom out to see the end destination, but zoom in to focus on the actions that matter. Business is at the end.
